  Gun Amnesty Program in Belleville

Belleville Police are hosting a gun amnesty program in April, working with the OPP's provincial gun amnesty program. The public's invited to turn them in to police, by safely disposing of unwanted or illegally-owned weapons, firearms and ammunition - without facing penalties and helping to reduce the risk of crimes like break and enters. Gun owners are also reminded to follow the laws required with ownership. Never bring weapons or explosive devices to police stations - Contact officers at 613-966-0882 ext. GUNS (4867.) Police will make arrangements to safely get the weapon. This program isn't available for weapons that have been used in crimes - No anonymous submission are accepted.

Join the City of Belleville and Belleville Police Service for an emergency management open house May 9 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre in Belleville. Everyone is welcome. Officers will be available to answer questions. The Forensic Identification Unit will have a display and their forensic vehicle. The Traffic Safety Unit will have the Automated Licence Plate Recognition vehicle and the newly-donated 2018 Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle. The Emergency Response Team will also be on-hand with a display and vehicle. May 6 to 12 is Emergency Preparedness Week in Canada.

 

 

Members of the Forensic Identification Unit will be on hand with a display and their forensic vehicle. The Traffic Safety Unit will have the Automated Licence Plate Recognition vehicle available to view as well as the newly donated 2018 Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle. Members of the Emergency Response Team will be on hand with a display of their equipment and vehicle.

Please come out and join us at this event. The public will have the opportunity to speak to officers from these and other units and ask questions as well as many other emergency management departments and community agencies.

Mondays, Artisans can exhibit their work in a citizen workshop at the Codrington Community Centre. Every Monday morning at 9am, people who do any kind of art or craft are encouraged to spend time together and help or be helped by others with their craft. There is no set charge for the events but residents are encouraged to donate $1 for the use of hall. The event is open to the public and the weekly workshops begin this morning and will run Monday mornings starting at 9 am.
