Thriving in the Teen/Tween Years

Many parents dread the teen years and worry that they will no longer be an influence in their children's lives. It doesn't have to be like that. Learn tips and effective parenting skills. Develop good communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills to ensure a stronger bond with your child and smooth the journey through these rocky years.

This is a two-part workshop that takes place on September 25 and October 2 at Princess Elizabeth Public School, 51 Elizabeth Street.

It's a great opportunity for young artists to become a part of a local artistic community! Also a great opportunity for parents to make art with their kids in a safe environment for FREE!

  FOIL Trail Donation Day at Island Lake Conservation Area

When: Oct 13 8-4pm

Where: Island Lake Conservation Area

The Friends of Island Lake (FOIL) are hosting a Trail Donation Day to collect donations to support future trail development and improvements.

Volunteers will collect donations at the intersection of the west trail and the north dam.

Donations can also be made at the gate house, online anytime at www.canadahelps.org/dn/244, or by sending a cheque made out to Credit Valley Conservation Foundation, subject Trail Donation Day, to 1255 Old Derry Road, Mississauga, ON, L5N 6R4.

  Pet Valu - Walk for Dog Guides (Grand Valley)

When: Oct 14 12-4pm

Where: Greta and Titch Boswell Memorial Lions Park, Grand Valley

The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is a national fundraising walk held in approximately 300 communities across Canada. It raises funds to help train Dog Guides for Canadians with visual, hearing, medical or physical disabilities. The Grand Valley Walk is being organized by the Grand Valley, Amaranth and the Belwood Lions Clubs at Greta and Titch Boswell Memorial Lions Park. Dog are not required to attend and the community is welcome to attend.

  Fall Harvest Car Rally, Dinner, and Dance

The object of our car rally is to have fun while "cruising" through the picturesque countryside solving riddles and clues.

Start and finish line will be at the Monora Park Pavilion with the first car off the line at 2 pm. While waiting for cars to return, there will be family fun games to play. Following the car rally enjoy a delicious dinner provided by Absolute Catering. Then dance the night away to our live band "Go Freddie Go."  There will be a raffle, door prizes, as well as prizes for best dressed car, best "Road Warrior" costume and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. We'll also have a cash bar and silent auction tables for you to bid on.
