  2nd Walk-It For Parkinson's Event

The Walk-it for Parkinson’s event is celebrating just it's 2nd year this coming Sunday September 10th at the Strathroy Seniors Centre at 1pm raising money for research and programs. Chairman of the Southwestern Ontario Parkinson's Society Brad Richards who lives with Parkinson’s says it's a neurodegenerative disorder that mainly affects motor systems, also mental side effects such as depression, but Parkinson’s effects everyone differently. Richards says the event is for public awareness. Funds raised stay in Southwestern Ontario. Registration is at noon on September 10th and anyone interested in participating can do so on the day of, but preregistration is preferred, and to preregister head to walk-it.ca.

  Cadets Open House

Are you interested in Biking, Canoeing, Adventure Training, Marksmanship and Orienteering.  Do you look for challenges that give you a sense of pride. Do you feel that there have to be opportunities out there that put you in the leader's position instead of just being a follower.  Are you looking to meet new friends who have a common interest. If you are between 12 and 18 years of age, then you should consider joining # 11 Strathroy Royal Canadian Army Cadets.

We meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Strathroy Community Christian School, 7880 Walkers Drive.  There is no cost to be a member of this program and the uniforms are loaned to you while you are a member.  We are holding an open house for new members and parents on the 12th of September at the Strathroy Community Christian School at 7 p.m. we do accept new members on any Tuesday evening.
