  Strathroy Barbershoppers Event

Another great show is planned for all you A Cappela Lovers out there.

The Strathroy Barbershop Chorus is putting on their annual show at the East Christian Reform Church on May 6th.

John Gough, Director or the Strathroy Vocal Federation, says their men will also be sharing the stage with a group of female singers and some award winning young A Cappella singers.

The show starts at 2 p.m. with tickets going for $20 a piece or $50 for a family.

The money goes towards two charities: Harmonize for Speech and Sing Canada.

  Longwoods Re-enactment Weekend

This year we look back at Canada's rich history and you can relive one of our countries defining moments first hand. On the May 6th weekend, the Upper Thames Military Re-Enactment Society will be showing you what like was like during war times way back when at the Longwoods Road Conservation Area. Jeff Mason from the Re-Enactment Society, says they are hoping to draw in big crowds from young and old. It cost $8 to enter with primary school students allowed on site for free. They will also let you in for free if you show up in uniform whether that be military, police, or cub scouts. The Conservation Area opens at 10 a.m. both days.

  14th MS Walk
The 14th Annual Strathroy MS Walk will take place on May 7th even though April is Multiple Sclerosis month. Organizer of the Strathroy event since it's inception Sherrie Klaver says they pushed it back to May a few years ago for better weather. Klaver says you will have the choice of a 2, 5 or 10km walk starting from the legion followed by awards and lunch cooked by the Shriners. She adds the event brings in around 175 walkers and everyone enjoys themselves for the cause and to register just log on to www.mswalk.ca.

  WAR AMPS "CHAMP" TO PASS ON SAFETY MESSAGE

The War Amps, a leader in the field of child safety, is bringing an important safety message to those attending the Middlesex County Farm Safety Day.
                               
Sydney Ramsey, 18, is a left foot amputee. As a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, she is well qualified to pass on the PLAYSAFE message as she has met children who have lost limbs in accidents that could have been prevented. With a colourful display board and handout material, Sydney will educate young attendees about the importance of "spotting the danger" before they play.
