  Canada Day in Napanee

Celebrate Canada Day in Napanee. Saturday July 1st at the SPC rain or shine with free admission all day. From 7:30am-10am the Greater Napanee Emergency Services will hold their pancake breakfast. 9am-3pm Napanee Valley cruisers 17th annual Car Show and Shine takes place. 10am-4pm Childrens Games and activities will be held. Face painting, wagon rides, air castles, music, games, scavenger hunt, 4-H animal display, arts and crafts, Canada Day cake and emergency services interactive display. At 2pm Napanee Softball and the Duck race will be held at Springside park. 7pm-Dusk there will be music and dancing by DJ Digital Mike and of course Fireworks at dusk.   Exhibition Launch

On July 1, the Museum of Health Care at Kingston will launch three free exhibits: "The Century: Medical Innovations of the 1800s," "Growing Pains: the 1867 Crisis at Kingston General Hospital" and "Quack: the Exhibit That Cures All!" There is free admission, tours, family-friendly activities, and refreshments.

The 17th annual Napanee Valley Cruisers show and shine take place Saturday July 1st at the SPC. Over 200 cars are expected. The show and Shine runs from 9am-3pm. Donations for their prize table are now being accepted. Proceeds from Canada Day and Valley Cruiser nights go back to the community.

A hands-on exploration of over 150 years of medical advancement in Canada. Learn about healthcare practices around the time of Confederation. Handle medical artefacts and learn about treatments for various ailments by asking different 'professionals' for their medical advice - some advice will be scientifically sound and some will be quackery! Create and take home your own home remedy to a common ailment from the 1800s. Conclude your journey through Canada's medical history with an engaging talk about medicine and health care presented by a special guest!
Recommended for ages 6-12. Accompanying adults welcome. Pre-registration required (spaces are limited).

Sharlene Wallace is one of Canada's most prolific and influential Celtic/lever harpists. Playing both Classical/pedal and lever harps has led Sharlene to diverse musical influences and opportunities. Sharlene tours internationally giving concerts, workshops, masterclasses and adjudications. She has performed in numerous festivals and concert series across North America and in Europe.   Demo Day... Needle Felting & Machine Knitting

Heritage arts with a twist! It's a Demo Day at the Allan Macpherson House & Park in Napanee! On July 27th at 2pm, learn about two interesting techniques. Felting is considered the oldest of all the textile or fibre arts. Come and experience this meditative and mesmerizing art form of "painting" with wool roving. Kits will be available for $25 if you would like to join in. You can also learn about Machine Knitting.  This demonstration of the 'domestic knitting machine' is a modern version of a technique invented over 400 years ago. Carolyn Barnett invites you to sit with her to see the machine in action.  Enjoy a brief talk about the history of the knitting machine' with use of images of historical knitting.  While her machine is in action, observe a different way to make wool knitted items.even just a scarf, with colours, creativity and a shorter time than by hand.   READY…SET…GO! Flyball

The ninth annual sanctioned North American Flyball Association tournament returns to the Napanee Fairgrounds on July 29-30, 2017. Flyball is a dog sport in which a four-dog relay team races against time and each other over four jumps to retrieve a ball from a spring-loaded Flyball box. Flyball attracts handlers of all ages and racing dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds, from Border Collies to Jack Russell Terriers, and Greyhounds to Poodles. Competition gets underway at 7:30 am on Saturday, July28 and continues until late afternoon on Sunday, July 30th. A charity fund raising event in support of Tim Horton's Children's Foundation has been organised and will run throughout the weekend.

Join the Napanee Valley Cruisers and friends on Monday nights for a trip down memory lane, now through October 2nd, for Cruise Night at the North parking lot of No Frills, beside Canadian Tire. All makes and models of cars and trucks are welcome, and there's no charge to show your ride, or to just take a look at some beautiful vehicles and listen to some great music.
