  M&M Meat Shop holding food drive
M&M Meat Shop Exeter is holding a food drive until December 8th to keep the shelves full at the Exeter Food Bank. Residents can drop by the shop with a non-perishable food item and automatically be entered to win a $100 gift card to M&M Meats.

  Zurich Lions Turkey Bingo
The Zurich Lions club are hosting an "Old fashioned" Turkey Bingo December 3rd at the Bluewater Community Complex in Zurich. The Jackpot game is $500 dollars! Doors open at 6pm and Bingo starts at 7. 15 regular games and light refreshments will be available. Proceeds will support Zurich Lions Club community work.

Hensall South Huron Agriculture Society Fair Board is re-energizing! The revitalization of events for the 147th annual spring fair is well underway with high hopes of great community support. The reinvention of the Board is welcomed by the past Executive Board of Directors.   STOP - Quit Smoking Workshop
Ready for a change? Looking to leave the pack behind? Whatever your motivation if you're thinking of quitting smoking the Huron County Health Unit can help eligible individuals with free nicotine replacement therapy. The Huron County Health Unit is offering a STOP (Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients) on Dec 4/14 @ 6:30pm in Exeter ON. The workshop arms you with information about how to make your own personal quit plan, tips on how to cope with cravings, as well as how to properly use nicotine replacement therapy. As an added bonus, for those eligible participants, we can offer you five weeks of nicotine patches for free. Pre-registration is required. Please register early!   Christmas at the Ridge
A fundraising event being hosted this Saturday, December 6th, from noon until 7 pm at the Ridge Pub and Eatery, located on Main Street in Exeter at Wellington. An all-ages event: come in for lunch and dinner and 100% of the proceeds will go to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Huron. From 1pm to 4pm, bring your kids to meet some very special surprise guests who came in just for the holidays. There will be a professional photographer on site who will be taking portraits for a cash donation or non-perishable food donation. MyFM will be on site from 11-3 pm.

  Starry Night Noisy Night
Join the South Huron Community Youth choir as they present the musical "Starry Night, Noisy Night" at Trivitt Memorial Church. Experience the nativity story according to the stable animals. It all takes place December 6th at 3pm. You can also get a picture with Santa! Refreshments, games, and a sing-a-long! Admission is $6 dollars or $8 at the door.

  Lucan-Biddulph Santa Claus Parade
Santa Claus is coming to Lucan!!! Saturday December 6, 2014 – Parade starts at 6pm. Gather at 5:30 if you have entered your float. Join Santa at the Lucan Community Centre after the parade for Hot Chocolate and Timbits. Ailsa Craig Food Bank will be accepting non-perishable food items – Support our local food bank and bring a donation.

It's the 15th Annual "Old fashioned lighted Christmas Parade" sponsored by the Zurich Lions Club. It's takes place Sunday, December 7th at 5:30pm, food bank donations will be collected. Kids visit Santa at the Zurich Complex following the parade. For more information call Allan at 519-236-9908.

Fourth Wall Theater of SHDHS and the community production of "A Broadway Cabaret" is being presented in the small gym of SHDHS on Thurs Dec 11 and Fri Dec 12 at 7:30 pm each night. Tickets will be on sale starting Mon Dec 1 in the SHDHS main office. Tickets are $10 each.

  Doing the Right Thing in 2015
The Women's Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counselling Services of Huron is pleased to announce our "Doing the Right Thing in 2015" calenders are available for purchase for $15.00. The calenders are available in Exeter at the Bank of Nova Scotia, in Goderich at All Around the House and the Women's Shelter and in Wingham at the My Family Tree store. The Calender's feature males who are positive role models.

  Exeter Hawks Annual Food Drive
Exeter Hawks Jr Hockey club's annual food drive is Friday Dec 12th. Children 12 and under will receive FREE admission with a paying adult and a canned good donation. Any other donations will be recognized with a ballot in our prize draw! We are also selling team jerseys and hawks t shirts for $5.00. South Huron High School band will also be joining us for O'Canada and entertaining us between periods!

  Busking for Children's Hospital at Hansen's
This Christmas, Brandon Ducharme would like to Raise Hope and make a difference for children fighting for their lives at the Children's Hospital that saved his life. If you would like to help him, please drop by Hansen's Independent Grocer in Exeter to show your support. He will be playing Christmas Carols Friday from 5pm - 6pm and Saturday from 11am - 12 pm.

The Exeter United Church presents "Christmas Unplugged" Friday December 19th and 20th. Tickets are available at the church, Custom Covers, Home Hardware or at the door and are $10 for an adult, $5 for a child/senior/student or $20 for a family. Show times are Friday, December 19th at 7:30pm, and Saturday, December 20th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm.

Come out to see the Exeter Hawks on Friday night at South Huron arena at 8 pm. Proceeds from all of the raffles support SHDHS School Council awards. There will be a small silent auction for tickets to see the Sarnia Sting, a signed hockey stick and Chuck-a-puck. For more information email

  Christmas Turkey Meat Draws
The Exeter Legion is hosting community Christmas Turkey Meat Draws on Friday December 19th and Saturday December 20th. Draws begin at 5:30am. Come out and join us for fun and Christmas cheer. Friday 4pm until ? and Saturday from 4pm-7pm, with entertainment Saturday by "Paul and Cathy." All turkeys have been donated by local groups, businesses and individuals.

  Everyone's Christmas Story
The Centralia Faith Tabernacle presents a play called "Everyone's Christmas Story" on December 21 and all free will donations are going to the South Huron Hospital Foundation. It's a light-hearted story about a writer who is trying to spruce up the original Christmas story. The event takes place Sunday December 21st at 7pm at Centralia Faith Tabernacle, 140 Victoria Drive, Centralia.

  Blyth BIA Presents Celebrate New Year''s In Blyth
Come one come all to a great party at the Hall! The Blyth BIA invites you to ring in the New Year in Blyth on December 31st. From 7-9pm the young crowd will enjoy a party just for them with crafts, music, children's entertainment, and a special countdown at 8:45! The party is free for all children. Starting at 10pm the 19+ celebration will begin with the live band Mostly Sideways, delicious food, a photo booth, and a cash bar. The Royal Canadian Legion in Exeter is hosting a New year's eve celebation December 31st from 9pm until 1am. Cost is $20 per person.
