  The Friends of The Pinery park Fun Run/Walk
The Friends of the Pinery Park is hosting its annual fall run/race Sunday November 1st. The original event that was scheduled for October 18th was snowed out. Registration starts at 8:15am with the first race being a fawn run at 9:15. There are a series of races for all ages and abilities with a trail run/walk at 10:00 and the final race at 10:20 is a 10k run/walk. There is a 5k wheelchair race at 10:05. Lunch will be available. There will be a variety of prizes available for all categories. Registration for the run is online and further information is on our website at

  Fall Concert with the South Huron Community Choirs
Head to the Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church in Exeter on November 1st at 7pm to hear a chorus from Franz Joseph Haydn's masterwork, The Creation; and an Ave Maria by 16th century composer Giulio Caccini to remember All Saints Day. Then choirs will sing "In Flanders Fields" to the music of Ottawa-based composer Kirkland Adsett to prepare for Remembrance Day. You will also hear the magic of the Handbell Choir, when they will play Shalom chaverim, a Jewish song based on a greeting of peace. Take advantage of the $15 early-bird ticket price.   Metro Medallion quilting class
November 7th, join Heather Stewart for her one day quilting class at Kalidoscope of Quilts-- she will be teaching how to create a Metro Medallion quilt. It runs from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Pre-registration required, and accepted up until October 31st. Don't wait too long-- space is limited and fills up fast! The construction of this quilt uses the QUICK CURVE RULER to create accurate curves for piecing this modern looking quilt. There will be a cenotaph service on Sunday November 8th. A parade will form at 9:45am which will leave from the Exeter Legion and will continue to the Cenotaph at the Municipal Office in Exeter where they lay wreaths at 10am.

  No Fail Binding & Rotary Cutting Magic quliting classes
Quilters and crafters: Heather Stewart will be teaching two classes at Kalidoscope of Quilts on November 14th. In the morning, from 9:30-12:30, she will host "No Fail Binding." In this class you will learn her unique method of binding a quilt with a mitred continuous binding. With this method your quilts will always lie flat and the joins will have no bulk. She will also discuss decorative binding treatments. Cost is $35, and you can pre-register here: In the afternoon, Heather will teach "Rotary Cutting Magic" from 1 pm- 4 pm. Cost is $35 and quilters/sewers of all levels of experience are welcome. In this 3 hour class,learn methods of rotary cutting to ensure straight, even and accurate cuts. Special Speaker: Author & Gay Christian Joan Grundy: Everyone is invited to this free event, November 14th at Huron Shores United Church, 25 Main Street, Grand Bend. (Formerly Grand Bend United Church). Coffee/Tea at 9:30am, Speaker at 10:00am. The event is presented by the Affirm Team. Ms. Grundy is a former vice-principal in the Catholic school system in Kitchener, who has documented her story in a new book called A Deepening Life. She will speak on “Inclusivity: Celebrating Sexual Minority Christians”. She offers encouragement on moving from homophobia, past tolerance, to acceptance and celebration! Come and hear her speak of her faith as a LGBTQ woman.

  SHDHS 3rd Annual Pops Concert and Spaghetti Dinner
The South Huron District High School's Music Program will be hosting their annual Pops Concert and Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday November 15th. Both events are open to the general public. The concert will be held at the high school in the large gym and will feature the senior, junior, and jazz ensembles as well as the percussion ensemble. The concert will begin at 2pm. After the concert (roughly around 5pm) a spaghetti dinner will be hosted by the music council at the South Huron Recreation Center. Tickets for the dinner will be sold in advance at $10/adult and $5/children 11 and under at McLeans, Hansens and Foodland. Tickets will also be available at the door for $12/adult and $7/child. All proceeds from the concert and the dinner will benefit the senior band's trip to Memphis, Tennessee in May. Celebrate Christmas in Exeter! Kick off the night with a Turkey dinner at the South Huron Rec Centre with the Exeter Hawks. Tickets are $20 and includes a Hawks game ticket for Friday's game at 8pm at the South Huron Rec Centre. The dinner takes place 5:30-7pm. At 6:30pm, head to MacNaughton Park for the lighting of the park and lantern walk thanks to the Exeter Lioness. You're asked to bring a canned good donation. Then watch the Exeter Hawks take on Port Stanley at 8pm South Huron Rec Centre, tickets are $7 adult, $5 student/senior, and $3 kids.

It's the 25th annual Spirit of Christmas November 20th-21st. Admission is $5 which includes a juried craft show, Ten Thousand Villages and Team Room with drinks and sweets while you enjoy live seasonal music by Randy Grey, Camping's Blessings and the Valleyview Male Chorus. Winter planter and card making workshops take place at 10am Saturday. RSVP by calling 519-227-0227. Then residents can line up along Main Street in Exeter to watch the NEW night time Santa Clause Parade at 7pm. There is also a FREE SKATE from 7:00-9:00pm at the South Huron Rec Centre and kids can "Visit with Santa" immediately following the parade as well at the Rec Centre.

Residents can enjoy Christmas Tea at the Exeter Library at 2pm Sunday as well. End the weekend off with another hockey game, the Exeter Hawks take on the Dorchester Dolphins at 7:30pm Sunday. Game time is 7:30 at the South Huron Rec Centre and Tickets are $7 adult, $5 student/senior, and $3 kids.
