  Coffee Break Fundraiser
The Alzheimer Society of Huron County's annual fundraiser "Coffee Break" kicks off in September, and is hosted by many establishments all over Huron County; such as offices, churches & community groups. Coffee Break participants are simply asked to make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee. With our Coffee Break fundraiser, the Alzheimer Society of Huron County is able to continue running support services and programs for people living in Huron County with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.   Tai Chi Classes
The Canadian Tai Chi Academy will be conducting an introduction and first beginner class for all ages on Thursday September 4, 2014 at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church located at 264 Main St. South in Exeter. Tai Chi is a whole body exercise that can be practiced anywhere, anytime. Tai Chi has proven health benefits that will increase energy; improve flexibility, balance and mental agility. Drop by the library to create your entry for the Seaforth Fall Fair. We provide the supplies and you provide the creativity! We will even make sure your creation gets to the fair for you. This is a drop in event on Saturday September 6th 10 am to 1 pm at the Seaforth Library.

  Thomas the Tank Engine Day
The annual "Thomas the Tank Engine" Day at Clinton's school on wheels museum will take place on Saturday September 6th from 10am-3pm in Sloman Park on Victoria Terrace in Clinton. The afternoon will feature a large, hands-on Thomas toys display for children to enjoy, a scavenger hunt with prizes, a bubble centre, face painting, and of course, tours of Huron Country's most celebrated train/school car.   21st Annual "Bob Williams" Golf Tournament
Community Living South Huron's 21st Annual "Bob Williams" Golf Tournament will be held Monday, September 8th at the Oakwood Golf Resort in Grand Bend. The cost is $99 and includes 18 holes & cart.   Great community Challenge
The 4th annual Great Community Challenge takes place in Exeter September 13th. The co-ed slo-pitch tournament with a twist is held by the South Huron Optimist club and tickets are still available for the elimination Draw and Dance on Saturday night at the Ag Building in Exeter. All proceeds from the sales will go towards arena upgrades/renovations as well as the second phase of the Exeter Splash Zone which is a new playground. The Crediton Cubs Ladie's Fastball team will be the umpires for the weekend, while the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron will run the food booth and receive all the proceeds from its sales for their organization. The Centralia Faith Tabernacle will run children's programs on the Saturday from 11 am until 2 pm as well.

  Stephen Township Fireman's Assoc. Open house
Come out to the Stephen township fireman's association Open house. A raffle draw takes place at 2pm. It takes place Saturday Sept 13th from 1pm-3pm. There will be a BBQ, fire safety trailer, fire truck displays, and antique fire equipment on display.

  Exeter Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research
The Exeter Terry Fox Run will be held on Sunday Sept. 14 from 10:00-2:00 on the MacNaughton trail starting at the park under the Dalton Finkbeiner pavlion. Everyone is welcome! There is a bike path and rollerblading path also available. Help to make Terry Fox's dream that we will find a cure for cancer. Many wonderful discoveries have been found already.People can register on line at www.Terryfox.org or on site on Sept. 14.

Hensall: Friday Sept 19 7:00-9:00 at the Hensall Arena. Another one is set up from 1-3pm Saturday Sept. 20th at the Bayfield Arena.

  Swinging Fore Memories golf tournament
Hosted by Exeter Villa, the swinging fore memories golf tournament takes place Sept. 19th at the Exeter Golf Club. Tee off time is 4pm and proceeds will support the Alzheimer Society Huron County. The cost is $200 for a foursome and $50 for an individual, which includes nine holes of golf, the cart, and a buffet dinner. Registration deadline is Sept. 5th.   Mom2Mom Sale
Are your kids growing way too fast? Mom2Mom sales are a GREAT way to shop for gently used baby and children's items for your family. The hall will be filled with tables of gently used baby and children items. If you are interested in a table to sell your items, please contact the office at 519-237-3554 or cw@shbbbs.on.ca. Table fee $25/$10 for additional tables. You keep any money you make from selling your gently used baby and children's items. Sign up for Fall Pictures with Sarah Verhoog Photography ($20 for a 15 minute session) - please contact the office to schedule a sitting. Admission is $2. All proceeds from admission and table fees go towards Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron. Strollers are welcomed.

  Friends For Life! Walk-A-Thon
The Ontario SPCA Friends for Life!Walk-a-thon is a province wide walk designed to raise critically needed funds and awareness for animal welfare and the prevention of cruelty to animals in our community and across Ontario. This awesome event is being held in Huron County on September 21, 2014 at Lion's Harbor Park in Goderich. Register for free and raise a minimum of $25 to help support the homeless and neglected animals in our community. We invite you to come out to meet some friends, enjoy a stroll and enjoy the day's festivities. You don't need to have a dog to enjoy the day and support this worthwhile cause. Registration begins at 10:00 am. Walk begins at 11:00 am. BBQ to follow. Have a walk around and visit all of the vendor booths! All dogs must be on leash at all times! Please remember to clean up after your dog!

  Exeter Harvest Celebration Chicken dinner fundraiser
Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church is putting on this fundraiser dinner with the proceeds going support to Habitat for Humanity Huron County. The meal will be in the tent beside the church on Baldwin St. Exeter Ontario. There will be a Community Celebration Service starting at 3:30pm, with the meal to follow (starting approximately 4:30). Tickets are available at the Restore in Exeter, and/or Trivitt Memorial Church Exeter. Adults: $15, Children (under 12): $7

  Quit Smoking Workshop
If you're thinking of quitting smoking the Huron County Health Unit can help eligible individuals with FREE nicotine replacement therapy. The Huron County Health Unit is offering a STOP (Smoking Treatment for Ontario Patients) Workshop on September 30/14 @ 6:30pm in Clinton ON. The workshop arms you with information about how to make your own personal quit plan, tips on how to cope with cravings, as well as how to properly use nicotine replacement therapy. As an added bonus, for those eligible participants, we can offer you five weeks of nicotine patches for free. Pre-registration is required. Please register early.   Caregiver Education Series
FREE Caregiver Education Series, consisting of 4 sessions that focus on caregivers (every Tuesday from September 30 to October 21, 2014). The Series provides information about caregiving and strategies for coping with the challenges that caregivers face on a daily basis. It is easy for caregivers to feel powerless in their caregiving role. Caregivers learn coping skills, how to tackle emotions, how to stay healthy, and how to access community resources. The workshops are presented by a VON Registered Nurse (RN).
