After a summer hiatus, movies will be returning to the Kincardine and Tiverton Branches of the Bruce County Public Library. Movies are always FREE and all are welcome.

First up will be the comedy Going in Style starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin.

Going in Style will show at the Kincardine Library on Tuesday, September 5th at 2 pm and in Tiverton Thursday, September 7th at 2 pm.


Movies will be shown the first and third week of the month. The fall schedule includes The Zookeepers Wife, Gifted, Sense of and Ending, Founder, Their Finest and Megan Leavey.

Kincardine's Tech Time will run from 2-4 pm every Thursday.  Tiverton's will take place from 3- 4 pm.  Drop ins are welcome but calling ahead of time to reserve a time would be greatly appreciated as it will give staff time to prepare for your question.  You can call the Kincardine Library at 519 396-3289 and the Tiverton Library at 519-368-5655.

This event will be held on World Suicide Prevention Day - Sunday September 10, 2017 at Knox Presbyterian Church in Goderich.

Starting today and running until September 17th, Tim Hortons is sharing smiles with Canadians from coast to coast with the return of the annual Smile Cookie fundraiser. For one week, Guests can purchase a delicious Tim Hortons chocolate chunk Smile Cookie for $1 (plus tax) and Restaurant Owners will donate the full $1 amount to local charities, hospitals and community programs, directly impacting the communities where the cookies are sold.

  BRUCE BOTANICAL GARDENS DINNER

The Bruce Botanical Food Gardens (BBFG) will be hosting the 4th annual Garden Harvest Dinner, Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre.

This is a community local food dinner and fund-raising auction to benefit the food gardens, and will feature signature dishes highlighting locally-produced ingredients and beef prepared by the Ripley and District Lions Club. Hoity Toity Wines and the Cowbell Brewing Co. will have tastings, along with wood-fired pizza by Grassroots.

The dinner is organized and prepared by a host of volunteers, supported by many generous sponsors, with all proceeds going toward the BBFG. There will be live entertainment by DJ Buzz Berry of Whenever Events and a live and silent auction.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with appetizers served preceding the harvest dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the Huron-Kinloss municipal office in Ripley, and Sleepers Bed Gallery in Kincardine.

The 22nd annual Canadian Big Band Celebration promises to be bigger and better than ever.   3RD ANNUAL myFM RADIOTHON IN SUPPORT OF KINCARDINE COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION

The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation's 3rd annual Radiothon takes place all day at Trillium Court in Kincardine on Friday, September 15th. 

myFM will be collecting funds and conducting interviews all day and will be present at Trillium Court to helps raise funds for a digital x-ray machine worth $777 000. The goal at this event is to raise $75 000 towards the initiative.

  COMMUNITY PEP RALLY AT GODERICH'S MAITLAND REC CENTRE

This Saturday, come to the Maitland Rec Centre for a community pep rally that will be taking place at around the same time as the Goderich Flyers and Kincardine Bulldogs game which begins at 7:30pm.

Meida, and community members will be in attendance to find out whether Goderich will be the recipient of a $250, 000 prize provided by Kraft Heinz Project Play for revitalization and upgrades to Goderich Recreation Park.

Polls were open from Friday at noon until 11:59pm on Saturday evening and local voting station were set up for residents. You were also able to vote from home, or on your cell phone.

Come out Saturday to show your community pride and celebrate a potentially huge victory for the town of Goderich.

  IPM 2017 INTERDENOMINATIONAL CHURCH SERVICE
The 2017 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo officially opens the gates Tuesday September 19, and the local committee will begin the weeklong celebration with an interdenominational church service this coming Sunday,  September 17,  at 3 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend the service, taking place at the IPM site in the RV park tent with the beautiful straw bale castle facade.  Traffic officials will be providing instructions to  enter off the Canada Company Road, and parking attendants will be assisting with parking.  Parking is close to the site of the Worship service, but there will be people movers available to offer rides to and from the tent as needed.  There will also be an accessible shuttle equipped to handle wheel chairs and scooters.
 
The service will be led by Reverend Gary Clark and Stephen Hildebrand will deliver the message.  Ahead of the service, two local choirs will provide special music and then will join the IPM 2017 choir, which is approximately 120 voices strong.  The offertory collection is in support of the two Huron County hospices, Jessica’s House in Exeter and Huron Residential Hospice in Clinton.  We look forward to having you join us in worship Sunday afternoon at 3 pm

Coffee Break Kick off Day and World Alzheimer's Day combine for an amazing day of fundraising and awareness!

  THURSDAYS ARE TECH TIME

Have a nagging technology question?  Want to follow your grandkids on Instagram so you can see what they are up to, but don't actually know what Instagram is?  Want to learn how to download ebooks, or audiobooks for free through the Library?  Well you are in luck.  Both the Kincardine and Tiverton Branches of the Bruce County Public Library will be establishing a Thursday Drop-In Tech Time. 

Kincardine's Tech Time will run from 2-4 pm every Thursday.  Tiverton's will take place from 3- 4 pm.  Drop ins are welcome but calling ahead of time to reserve a time would be greatly appreciated as it will give staff time to prepare for your question.  You can call the Kincardine Library at 519 396-3289 and the Tiverton Library at 519-368-5655.

The Tech Time is not meant to act as a course on computer or technology use, but rather to answer specific questions.  For more generalized material check out our Lynda.com resource available through the Bruce County Public Library Resources page.

  KINCARDINE NEON NIGHT RUN

The 3rd Annual Neon Night Run is being held on Saturday, September 30th starting at 7:30 p.m. in Victoria Park, Kincardine.  There are 1K and 5K runs.  The cost is $10 for the 1K and $15 for the 5K with a Family rate of $35.  This is a local youth fundraising for the South Bruce Grey Health Centres Volunteer Program.  To pre-register contact KincardineNeon NightRun@gmail.com.  Last minute registration is from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Victoria Park on the day of the event.

Event takes place in the beautifully historic Downtown Amherstburg, Fort Malden and King's Navy Yard Park
Enjoy live demonstrations of art throughout the King's Navy Yard Park. 

Experience early French-Canadian and Aboriginal culture that was prevalent in Essex County through the 18th century. 

During the weekend, visitors can taste period cooking, crafts, presentations and demonstrations relating to the iconic fur trade.

Highlights will feature various canoes, Montreal boats and other period vessels recreating a historic Rendezvous.
