  St. Joseph''s Scares Hunger

Millions around the world go hungry every day, even in our own backyard. This Halloween, St. Joseph's school will be trick-or-treating for non-perishable food items instead of just candy. Then, we will donate them to our local food bank to help stop hunger in its tracks.  We have paired up with Canadian Tire who will be placing a bin in their store.

Hunger affects people from all walks of life. They are your neighbours, the people you pass on the street or even friends. Most people never expect to have to go to a food bank. But when faced with unemployment, poverty or family crisis, many find themselves having to turn to their community food bank to feed their family. Some people need support over longer periods, but most require help only occasionally or for a short period of time. A food package may make the difference for a family trying to get back on their feet after a crisis. It can mean that a child doesn't go to bed hungry. It's time to be heroes and stop hunger in its tracks.

Please help us in our campaign to scare hunger and give a child a non-perishable item while they are trick or treating or drop one off at Canadian Tire.

Fall brings gorgeous lush colors, cooler weather, pumpkin spice– but best of all, it brings the 8thannual Made in Norfolk Show & Sale, running November 1st to 30th, Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. For the month of November the Norfolk Arts Centre will transform the ground floor event space into a gift boutique that exclusively features handcrafted work by Norfolk County artists and artisans. This event includes a wide range of unique, high-quality items reasonably priced between $5 and $200.

Some of the most talented artists and artisans in Norfolk County have been selected for this event, ensuring that only high-quality and expert-level works will be on display. Attendees will see a wide range of artistic creations, including ceramics, woodworking, rug hooking, fused glass, paintings, fine art cards and leather goods. In addition, the participating artists attend Made in Norfolk in order to personally display their work, giving attendees the opportunity to meet them and discuss their creations in person.

With dozens of displays to explore in the comfortable setting of the NAC’s heritage rooms, many find themselves returning yearly to the event to explore more and seek out the perfect holiday gifts for their loved ones. According to attendee, Pat Hall, “Norfolk Arts Centre’s Made in Norfolk Show and Sale is consistently full of quality products made by local artisans. I recommend it as a ‘not to miss-out’ event.”
